The first rocking chair designed by Luciana Martins e Gerson de Oliveira, the Compasso displays many of the traits that mark the duo’s signature such as precision of lines, carefully thought proportions, and clear building. The design is formed by connecting three large frames—sides and back—with geometric shapes, in which the conch of the seat is fitted in. It has a weave of straps and is rounder, a counterpoint to the straight frames in the structure, ensuring comfort. The rocking chair alludes to a past era when there was time for contemplation and silence. The name Compasso has to do with the rhythm of the rocking and with the angles of the wooden frames. The whole structure is made of solid Jequitibá wood, but the piece can be made of different woods as well—Cumarú or Sucupira.
